Which boiler is right for your home?
Most homes suit one of three types. A combi boiler heats water on demand straight from the mains, with no hot water cylinder or loft tank, which makes it ideal for flats and homes with one bathroom. A system boiler heats a hot water cylinder, so it suits larger homes with two or more bathrooms where several taps and showers run at once. A regular (heat-only) boiler works with a cylinder and a cold water tank in the loft, and is often the best fit for older properties with low mains pressure. We look at your water pressure, hot water use and existing pipework before recommending anything, and never push a bigger boiler than you need.
Converting to a combi boiler
Switching from a regular or system boiler to a combi frees up the airing cupboard and loft, and gives you hot water on demand. It is not right for every home: a combi needs good mains water pressure and flow, and the gas supply often has to be upgraded to cope. We check all of this during the survey, then remove the old cylinder and tanks, cap off redundant pipework and fit the new boiler, so you know exactly what is involved before you commit.
How much does a new boiler cost?
The price of a new boiler depends on the type and size of boiler, the brand and warranty length, whether it is going in the same place as the old one, and any extra work such as a new flue, a gas pipe upgrade or a conversion to a combi. A like-for-like combi swap is the simplest job; relocating a boiler or changing the system type takes longer. After a quick assessment we give you a clear, fixed-price quote that includes the boiler, fitting, system flush, magnetic filter and controls, with no hidden extras.
What happens on installation day
Our engineers protect your floors and furniture, drain down and remove the old boiler, and flush the heating system to clear sludge and debris. We then fit the new boiler, a magnetic filter and your controls, test everything thoroughly and show you how to use it. A straightforward combi replacement usually takes a day, while a system change or relocation can take two to three days. Finally we register the installation with Gas Safe, which notifies Building Control on your behalf, and register your manufacturer's warranty.

Powerflush
My radiators weren't getting hot like they used to, and so I was advised by a friend that I might need a power flush as there may be some blockages. I called Metropolitan Plumbing and they came to validate my suspicions and got the job done the next day. My radiators are back working well now, which is a godsend in these colder months. The gentleman was very friendly and kind, and tidied up well upon leaving. He seemed really knowledgeable. I'll use them again.

Phoned metropolitan plumbing LTD to find out who we had chosen from checkatrade to come do our plumbing work. No job got carried out here soz, however the lovely happy voice answering my query over the phone that I was asking if they had come to mine to do the work can't remember who did?. Jen WOW, so nice to hear such an uplifting person at 6pm as well gosh, Just because of her manner or personality. Boiler Installation
The team at Metropolitan Plumbing were communicative, and it was clear that they weren't trying to rip us off with the different options they gave us for our boiler installation. Our old boiler was on it's last legs, and we opted for a new Vaillant which included a 10-year warranty, and they gave me a free servicing the following year on top. The workmanship was impressive, the new pipework is very neat-looking and they worked to complete it in a day's time, which I was pleasantly surprised with. Our new boiler is working efficiently, and they will remain top of my list of plumbers to call.

I have used the company multiple times, Tom is brilliant tradesman - knowledgeable, tidy, respectful and easy to talk to. Have used Tom for everything including installing radiators, boiler repairs & servicing, shower repair. Since we found Tom (through a recommendation from another plumber who was about to retire) we have not looked any further. He takes your problem and makes it his own. Once I have explained the situation to Tom and know that he's coming I feel a weight lifted as I know it will soon be fixed.

We were quite frustrated by our kitchen sink, as it was draining slow, even after snaking it several times. Tommy from Metropolitan plumbing was efficient, knowledgeable and quick. Installation of Vaillant combi boiler
I was gathering quotes for a new boiler installation for my rental property, I chose Tommy@ TW Plumbing as he provided the most cost effective solutions for a problematic 3rd floor installation. Whilst I was gathering quotes the boiler completely broke down on a Sunday and Tommy was able to attend the property the same day, unfortunately the boiler was completely gone so Tommy installed a new boiler and completed the installation a couple of days later. I had some headaches speaking to various plumbing companies but Tommy is the Ibuprofen of the plumbing world. Highly recommended!!!!
Bathroom repair
Tommy worked hard to replace a tap cartridge that was difficult to remove because of limescale build up and also repaired a couple of exterior waste pipes that were leaking. I am very pleased with the service.

Dripping mixer tap, Boiler noise and rad refit
I have just used Tommy's services twice recently for a dripping mixer tap, refit a heavy rad to it's brackets and investigate odd noise from my boiler. Tommy didn't hesitate with refitting rad, which he did with ease and fixed both the drip with new valves and the boiler noise which has remained quiet since. I found Tommy very polite. He was reliable and very quick in response to booking and visit and his rates reasonable. I wouldn't hesitate to use Tommy's services again as I commend his services.
Fitting local isolation valves to stop water flow if needed
Tommy was brilliant, he was away on holiday when I contacted him but still gave me a date for when he was back to come and view the job. He came at the time he said he would. The original job was to fit a stopcock in my flat but this was not possible but he found another option for me and completed the job on the same day. I would definitely call him in the future and highly recommend him.

I contacted TW Plumbing and Heating after having a very strange problem arise, my cold water tank was heating up, they diagnosed the issue of a faulty kitchen tap which was backfilling the hot water system. Will I get a certificate for my new boiler?+
Yes. We register every installation with Gas Safe, which notifies Building Control, and you will receive a Building Regulations compliance certificate. We also register your manufacturer's warranty.
Can I still have a new gas boiler fitted?+
Yes. You can still replace the gas boiler in an existing home. Rules on low-carbon heating for brand-new homes do not stop you replacing the boiler you have now.
